Today, because it’s World Plant Milk Day (or should that be Mylk Day?!), we want to talk to you about our awesome almond milk because it is NOT NORMAL. In fact, it is so ridiculously far from normal that it really does deserve a whole blog post dedicated to it.
How many cafes in London will make you a flat white with home made plant milk that doesn’t separate when you mix it and contains only 5, natural ingredients? Organic almonds, filtered water, coconut oil, pink salt and vanilla extract – that’s it. We don’t mean to brag, (read: we actually do), but seriously – how great is that ingredient list? No thickeners, gums, stabilisers or emulsifiers. Just 100% organic, pure and simple almond milk.
We’ve also been working really hard behind the scenes to establish unique, singular relationships with growers and suppliers that means that we have complete transparency and knowledge about where our produce comes from. The quality of our ingredients is really important to us, not only do we source everything 100% organically but we are also trying more and more to work with smaller suppliers and growers that can offer us reassurance as to where our food comes from. We think that’s pretty important and we hope you do too.
Our almonds are no different, and recently we’ve been working with a Spanish family who were the first to introduce organic almond farming in Spain. We also source our new almond butter from them as well. Have you had an almond butter and banana toast at CPRESS recently? The difference is unreal!
Valencia almonds are prized for being more tender, sweet, and delicate than regular almonds, with a nice buttery flavour that is due to their high oil and moisture content. They contain the same excellent health benefits as all almonds, including cholesterol-lowering monounsaturated fats. They are also an equally rich source of protein, 21g per 100g, antioxidants, iron, and calcium. They are high in vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant and used by the body to help fight free radical damage to our cells.
Almonds contain Omega 9 mono-unsaturated fatty acids, predominantly Oleic Acid which is also found in olive oil, many other nuts and avocado. It helps to keep our arteries supple and lower LDL cholesterol (that’s the bad kind of cholesterol) so including some in your diet is a great way to promote overall health.
And if that’s not enough, our almond milk is 10% almonds. Next time you’re in a supermarket have a look and see what the actual almond content is of the milk you’re buying…you’d be surprised.
